By Maria West

The technology developments are always on the rise. Day by day new discoveries is made. Life without one appreciating the importance of technology is meaningless. The same impact of technology integration in the classroom has hit our learning institutions. The education department is on the state of introducing technological aids for classroom teaching.

The learners of this century and the other times to come are very lucky since learning has been made easier. The teachers are also appreciative of these tools which make their teaching work efficiently. Moreover, there are other tools which help in the general administration of these institutions. However still, some difficulties are associated with these changes.

As earlier mentioned, we have reached a point in this world where one cannot do without technology. Everything that we do from social amenities to potential jobs cannot run without technology. The corporate world cannot move a single inch without technology. It is thus important that the learners are prepared for the future through being introduced to technology while young.

More so, studies have shown that the use of technology improves the output of students. Their grades are deemed to improve. Technology tools such as PowerPoint presentations and interactive whiteboards make learning enjoyable. Such conditions make the learners grasp the concepts with ease and even develop positive attitudes towards learning.

Compared to the primary teaching methods, the use of technology aids in learning makes the students learn at their favorable speed. Each learner is having their individual gadgets frequently use apps that have personalized instructions. The teacher handling each student at a time ensuring they have well understood what is being taught.

A communication platform is enhanced by the use of knowledge in the learning fraternity. It is evident that as the students interact in social forms, they will be able to help one another on what they have managed to learn so far. They will eventually learn how to work together and even have a sense of respect for each other.

One of the major disadvantages of this integration of tech in learning is the aspect of being distractive. Without the teacher being keen enough, the learners may end up misusing their gadgets for unintended purposes during the progress of the class. The teacher should, therefore, develop strict measures to be followed during class time.

In addition to this, most of the information found on the internet, and the many e-books which are part of this integration have more information than what the pupils need. It becomes a bit challenging and also time-consuming to sieve the required information. The teacher has to be available to help the students out. When the searching becomes cumbersome, the students may start developing negative attitudes.

The integration of technology in our classrooms cannot be withdrawn only because of the challenges associated with it. It will be a sign of going backwards. It is important that a lasting solution towards these problems is reached, and more integration must be done.
